Born in Maribor, Slovenia, Matija Bobičić (1987) received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Faculty of Education in Maribor in 2016. There he studied under the mentorship of Oto Rimele, having previously studied under Ludvik Pandur. In his youth, Bobičić participated in several local art programs receiving early recognition for his work. Since receiving his BFA, Bobicic has participated in a number of group shows. Recent solo shows include ‘Paths and Collisions’ at Galerija RIGO in Novigrad, Croatia, and ‘Piss of Art’ at the Maistrova Residency. Bobicic has shown in group exhibitions such as (GIFC KC at Drugstore KC in Kansas City, MO, Fisher Parrish in Brooklyn, NY, While Supplies Last at Georgetown Carneval in Seattle, WA, GIFC at Dateline, Denver, CO, GIFC Artist picks series curated by Mike Swaney in Barcelona, AIR4, Ravnikar Gallery Space, Ljubljana, Parallel Vienna 2018 and Portable Gallery 0,02m3, Austria). In the summer of 2018, he had his first solo exhibition in New York at Marvin Gardens titled ‘Under the Rainbow’. He also participates in a group exhibition In Los Angeles titled ‘Ghosts of Electricity’.
